Swim Meet Staffing and Jobs Descriptions

CGBD has established a tradition of hosting well-run meets and making swimmers, coaches, officials, and parents feel welcome. To successfully stage a meet requires participation and support from all Members. This year, Member families are required to work 4 complete sessions - 2 in SC and 2 in LC (no more than 2 in a meet).

Hosting a meet is a large responsibility. They don’t just happen - it takes a lot of people, each doing their part - and without clubs stepping up to run a meet, our kids wouldn’t be able swim and achieve their goals. We usually host 3-4 meets during the swim year and rely on the Team's continued volunteer spirit to staff them. Here’s what we’re looking at in terms of effort per session of the meet (there are 4-9 sessions in a meet):

Please don’t be afraid to volunteer. New Members can start off as timers or runners or in off-deck positions. Only Officials require training/certification. Experienced Members can try some new positions. We need more Officials and we need some of you to step up as Assistant Coordinators, so we can train another set for emergencies and for the future. Working at meets is fun and gratifying! It’s a great way to meet the rest of the Team and to get involved in the program.
No matter what job you have, you will always be able to get relief to watch your swimmer compete.
